70 Strong: Connections for Aging Well

70 Strong is the first comprehensive online directory of activities and services for older adults in our area.

Smiling Older WomanWhether you are an older adult or a family member of an older adult, 70 Strong is your personal resource guide to activities and services for older adults in our area. Activities and services include enrichment classes, social groups, volunteer opportunities, support groups, home care, hospitals, community clinics, transportation, food services and housing.

Serving residents since 1946, Sequoia Healthcare District’s mission has always been to improve the health of the community. Lee Michelson, CEO of Sequoia Healthcare District explains, “We recognized a need for a cohesive resource guide for older adults in our community to find activities and services that will keep them fit and healthy for decades to come.”

Pamela Kurtzman, Program Director of Sequoia Healthcare District adds, “When the concept of 70 Strong was first envisioned, we knew it would require us to partner with an organization experienced in providing programs and services for older adults in our community. Given our long-time partnership with Peninsula Family Service and knowing the exceptional quality of their services and commitment to this population, there was no question as to who that partner would be to help us develop and manage 70 Strong.”

After partnering and developing the program for the past year, 70 Strong is now up and running.

How it works:

Activities and services are at your fingertips through a user-friendly online resource directory, with options to speak directly with a Community Navigator over the phone or to meet in person with a Community Navigator on a site location of your choice. For participants requiring higher-level assistance, Community Navigators are available to meet in the comfort of the participant’s own home. Assistance from Community Navigators is available free of charge for district residents.

The district includes residents of Atherton, Belmont, Portola Valley, Redwood City, Redwood Shores, San Carlos, Woodside, and parts of Foster City, Menlo Park, and San Mateo. Please visit www.70strong.org  or call (650) 780-7547 to speak directly with a Community Navigator today.
